BELLVILLE: Quiet and understated, Scott Tollison was hushed in many aspects of his life….but his voice was heard loud and clear in his actions and his love for his family, friends and community. An exemplary husband and father, Scott was completely devoted to his family. Beyond his family, he would offer anything he had to help a friend in need.

Scott passed away Saturday evening, September 21, 2013 from injuries sustained in an accident. He was 42.

He was born July 14, 1971 in Mt. Vernon to Donald E. and Martha “Marty” (Easterday) Tollison. A 1990 graduate of Clear Fork High School, Scott excelled in athletics, especially football, playing point guard and linebacker on the varsity team.

A hard worker and provider, Scott was employed the last seven years at the Richland County Highway Department Bellville Outpost. He also worked at Jackson and Son Well Drilling, Abbott Laboratories in Ashland and Hi-Stat.

Rugged and outdoorsy, Scott enjoyed all things manly. He loved hunting deer and rabbit, and had been on many large game hunting trips out west. He enjoyed trap shooting and fishing, bribing his boy with their annual fishing trip to Michigan in exchange for good grades in all his classes. Even this week, Scott was looking forward to a fishing Trip to Ontario, Canada. He enjoyed trips to West Virginia four-wheeling and even chopping wood around the house.

A leader by example, Scott served as captain of his high school football team. He enjoyed playing on countless softball teams including the Budweiser, Farley Peeples, and Shonauer teams. He volunteered much of his time as a coach for the Clear Fork Pony League, and assisting the 7th grade football program working on the “chain-gang.” A presence in the Clear Fork Athletic Program, Scott also loved his Ohio State football, and snoozing on the sofa while watching his driver, Jeff Gordon, on NASCAR.

Truly giving, Scott would do anything to help a friend in need. If perplexed by a problem task, he would head to YouTube searching out the solution to fix whatever needed fixing.

Rugged as he was, Scott was “a big teddy bear” and loved hanging out with his family and friends, but was also protective of their best interests. Honest and caring, “T” took care of his people.

He is survived by his loving wife, Paula of Bellville, whom he married October 3, 1999; two adoring sons Hunter and Wyatt Tollison, his parents Donald and Marty Tollison of Bellville, sister Teresa Bennett of Perrysburg; father-in-law James Yarger of Butler, sister-in-law Patty Hatfield of Lexington, his wife’s grandmother Betty Oswalt of Butler, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Scott was preceded in death by a son Garrett Tollison, and his mother-in-law Linda Yarger.

Friends may call Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 10 am to 2 pm in Impact Worship Center, 160 Woodruff Road, Mansfield where the memorial service will follow at 2 pm. Interment will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery, near Butler. Following the committal service the family will receive guest at a reception at the Oswalt Home, 371 Woodruff Road, Mansfield.
