Helen L. Whited, age 89, of Mount Vernon, went to be with her savior, on Thursday June 10, 2010. Helen was born August 15, 1920 in Delaware to Virgil and Grace (Laughlin) Hall and was a graduate of the Frank B. Willis High School in Delaware. She married W. Elmer Whited in 1939 and moved to Knox County where she spent her lifetime. Elmer preceded her in death in 1986 after 47 years of marriage.
Helen was retired from the J. S. Ringwalt Company, department store, in Mount Vernon. She served as a foster grandparent with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center and had served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was a member of the Sparta Advent Christian Church.
Surviving are her daughters Judy (Jerry) Greene of Ontario and Rhonda (Jim) Young of Bellville; grandchildren Bill Greene, Mike (Karin) Greene, Bob (Becky) Greene, Kelly (Sharon) Wilson, Kim Grubaugh, Kari (Steve) Boyles, Danny (Mindy) Whited, David (Alisha) Whited, Jessica Hunter, Heidi (Chris) Cline, and Amanda (Chip) Zolman; 11 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; her brother Jack McMillin of California; cousin Richard and Lela Manross of Ocala, Florida; devoted friends Ron and Tharon Blankenship and family and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son Ronald Whited, daughter Jean Wilson, grandson Kevin Wilson and her sister Virginia Hall.
A private graveside service will be held at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
A public service celebrating the life of Helen L. Whited will be held at the Ankneytown Grace Brethren Church on Sunday August 15, 2010 at 3pm with Rev. Cliff Beck officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Knox Community Hospital, 1330 Coshocton Ave. Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 for the Palliative Care Unit.
